I am writing this as an ordinary citizen of India, one of the honest taxpayers who live under the mercy of every columns- politician, bureaucracy, media, justice and what not. The media today is much more responsible than a few years back. But still today our reporters are too obsessed with the news about politicians and bureaucrats. I do not corroborate this obsessed accentuation on political figures in the columns. If our education system is cleansed we could produce ideal citizens who will take care of these nasty mughals of Indian democracy.
Today our education system is in the hands of some academic dons, more dangerous than Dayoods Ibrahims, Chhota Sakeels and Abu Salems. Why dont you investigate into their activities through investigative journalism and interviews? I believe this way you could do some noble jobs for the nation. Today I will give you example of one such person who is playing with the lives of thousands of our next generation citizens, teachers, scientists and above all floods of funds from the national treasury built by millions of poor people.
Dr. M. D. Tiwari was never a reputed teacher or scientist. But he is an expert in making connections. He served mostly in UGC and made many connections in Delhi and could become Vice Chancellor of a new university in UP, probably Bundelkhand. He had some charges there and had to leave. He was close to the the-then HRD Minister Murali Manohar Joshi who made him Officer on Special Duty and then Director of Indian Institute of Information Technology at Allahabad. He has no expertise in information technology, neither he is expert on computer science. These kinds of institutes such as IITs or IIITs must have a specialist as the leader and we have no dearth of such experts in India or abroad. People tell he used to supply briefcases to Dr. Joshi before and after elections. Most of the staff in 'HIS' institute is from his locality and from family members of ministers men. Examples now. His peons Sankar and Shambhu were nephew of Mr. Upadhyay the PA of Joshiji. His own nephew Kanchan Tiwari and son of his brother in law Brijesh hold two important posts. Jyoti Upadhyay daughter in law of Mr. Upadhyay, PA of Joshiji got RA post just after completing her M.Sc. He placed one lady Pallavi Dixit with a PhD in inorganic chemistry in the Indo Russian Center of Biotechnology. Is there any relation of her subject with biotechnology. She is daughter in law of Prof. Dixit a Joshi man again. He recruited Rahul Gupta in the institute. He is son of Prof. AK Gupta, a member of the Governing Body of IIITA. All the talented staff who joined at IIITA from India and abroad left due to his torture [Ranjan, Vyas, Manish etc.]. Only the yes-men are left. After the change of Ministry in Delhi he has recruited the daughter of Mr. Pramod Tiwari, local congress MP. Nobody understands why the son of Mr. Katju was recruited as a lecturer, it is only because his father was the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court.
His most desperate act was to appoint Miss Anurika Vaish. She holds a PG degree in commerce and a diploma in business management. There was no such course in IIITA when she was recruited. Dr. Tiwari started management much later just to justify her appointment. When information technology courses were new, nobody could explain why management was needed in that institute. There are several vehicles from her family hired by IIITA. Even contract of the mess of the hostels was given to her father. Everybody in the institute know his relation with that girl! Vaish family is said to be an old family friend of Mr. Tiwari. Mr. Vinod Vaish owns the naini hostel (which is 30 km from the main campus).
Indo-Russian Center of Biotechnology was supposed to be established as a full-fledged center in New Delhi. Prof. MM Joshi took it to Allahabad. It was planned to be started in the space of Nehru Science Center rented by IIIT until its own building would come. Dr. Tiwari grabbed that center in IIIT and started it as a project. He could do this only due to his closeness to Mantriji and his Bhaiya. He even unceremoniously relieved its first Project Coordinator without any notice and reasons. That man was selected by a high level committee composed of secretary DBT, secretary DST, eminent scientists such as Prof. Asis Datta, Prof. Padmanavan etc. His fault was, he knew Russian language and biotechnology but did not support the corrupt views of Dr. Tiwari. Dr. Tiwari then placed his too-close lady Dr. Krisna Mishra in that post. In this way he killed the future of a new institute!
It can be seen that most of IIIT Allahabad Administration and some of the faculty are relatives and friends of Mr. M.D. Tiwari hence efforts must be made not to just remove the corrupt director but also his close yes-men (and women) and prevent the future of the students of IIIT Allahabad from doom.

Open Appeal to All Indian Academicians
To Whom It May Concern
To Whom It May Concern
I am an alumnus of Indian Institute of Information Technology,
Allahabad (IIIT A). I'd like to draw your attention to the recent
developments in my alma-mater.
On March 28 a student of BTech program died in an unfortunate incident
while boarding bus from Naini hostel, a hostel for first year students
being run on lease, about 40 Km from the main campus.
This hostel has been leased and is being maintained by institute since
its inception in 1999. During earlier days there was a genuine need to
rent such an accommodation, however in recent times lots of buildings
have come up in the main campus itself and there is no need for
director to continue the lease.
Dr. Tiwari (Director IIIT A) has leased out the hostel from a
particular business family. The same family also manages the
transportation and mess facilities. Against all norms and procedure
two unqualified individuals from the same family have been given
important posts in the Institute.
Apparently director continues to misuse his position and harm the
institute of great repute. He has put lives of his student at risk and
it was an accident that was waiting to happen.
Recently our respected professor, Dr. U.S. Tiwary was also asked to
leave IIIT for raising his voice against irregularities in running the
institute. Details of which can be found at link below :

Further details about the incident are available at following blog :

I, on behalf of IIIT A alumni and present students urge you to take
serious view of the matter and help us stop further degradation of the
institute.
Kind Regards
